La Cañada Tames South Pasadena in League Matchup

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team picked up a 65-56 Rio Hondo League victory over visiting South Pasadena on Dec. 15 as junior Josh Pastor racked up a double-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
Senior Matthew Plocher finished with 13 points, four rebounds, one steal and one assist, senior Anders Petersen registered 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals, and senior captain Jack Reynolds tallied eight points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block. Senior Dhilon Gupta contributed four rebounds, two points, one block and one assist, while senior Shervin Naini scored two points. Senior Spencer Moravec produced one block and one rebound, while senior Jensen Karlich was credited with one assist.
The Spartans routed visiting Temple City 82-30 in their league opener on Dec. 13.
Pastor tallied 18 points, five steals, three assists, two rebounds and one block, Plocher registered 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal, and Reynolds recorded 13 points, five assists, three steals and two rebounds. Naini finished with nine points, three rebounds, one block and one assist, while Petersen contributed seven points, four rebounds, one block and one assist. Junior Saad Bangash produced five points, one block and one rebound, while Dhilon Gupta notched four points, two rebounds, one block and one assist. Junior Julian Morillo chipped in two points, two rebounds and one block, Karlich had two points, one rebound and one assist, and senior Conor Banks scored two points. Seniors Jaidon Gupta and Matthew Herrick each had one rebound, while junior Diyon Silva was credited with one assist.
LCHS (6-7 overall, 2-0 in league) will host Flintridge Prep for a nonleague game on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. before resuming league action at Monrovia on Jan. 10.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights defeated visiting Spring Valley High of Las Vegas, Nevada, 50-36, in a nonleague game on Dec. 16, as junior captain Mazi Mosley racked up 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Senior Chris Kalachian registered 10 rebounds, nine points and one assist, while junior Joe Hickey tallied 10 rebounds and five points. Sophomore captain Delan Grant contributed five points, two rebounds, one steal, one block and one assist, junior Ben O’Connor recorded five points, two steals and one rebound, and senior Ethan Childs chipped in three points, three rebounds and one steal. Senior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo produced two rebounds and one steal, junior Aaron Matthews finished with one steal and one rebound, and junior Noah Henry had one rebound.
The Golden Knights suffered a 69-51 nonleague loss to visiting Valley Christian High of Chandler, Arizona, on Dec. 15, as Mosley registered 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Hickey tallied seven points, three rebounds and one steal, Mitchell-Egbo chipped in five points and four rebounds, and Kalachian recorded five points, two rebounds and one assist. O’Connor finished with four points and one steal, Childs contributed four assists, three points and one rebound, and junior Dyllen Domingo produced three points, two steals and one rebound. Henry scored three points with one steal and one rebound, while Grant notched three rebounds, two points and one assist. Matthews collected two steals and two rebounds, junior Ryan Smith was credited with one steal and one rebound, and junior Liam Selak had one rebound.
The Golden Knights (10-2) will host Bakersfield Christian High for a nonleague game on Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. before hosting their St. Francis Holiday Hoopfest, starting with a matchup against Menlo School of Atherton on Dec. 26 at 8 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior Noah Willingham recorded 10 assists to help the Wolves beat Arleta in a nonleague matchup on Dec 12

The Wolves extended their win streak to 10 games with a convincing 67-34 Prep League victory at Palos Verdes Chadwick on Dec. 15.
Junior Lawson Holland contributed 18 points and six rebounds, while senior captain Henry Morrison registered a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Senior captain Will Bigby finished with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, while sophomore Owen Willingham tallied 15 points and seven rebounds.
Flintridge Prep secured a 78-45 nonleague victory over visiting Arleta on Dec. 12.
Holland finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds, Morrison posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and senior Noah Willingham was credited with 10 assists.
The Wolves (12-1, 2-0) will visit La Cañada for a nonleague game on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. before competing in the Torrey Pines Tournament, starting with a matchup against Coronado on Dec. 27.
