Spartans Tame Tigers, Wolves Earn Share of League Title

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ soccer team picked up a narrow 2-1 Rio Hondo League victory over visiting South Pasadena on Jan. 24.
Mathilde Ayoub and Hailee Takao each scored one goal, while Samantha Hosford and Samantha Neumeier each finished with one assist.
The Spartans lost at Monrovia 4-2 in a league match on Jan. 26.
Neumeier registered one goal and one assist, Takao chipped in one goal, and Julia Sada had one assist.
La Cañada (10-5 overall, 3-3 in league) will host San Marino for its regular-season finale on Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The Spartans will compete in the Division IV bracket.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior Abigail Wang scored a pair of goals to help the Wolves beat Pasadena Polytechnic in a Prep League match on Jan 23

Junior Dagny Marion helped the Wolves shut out host Mayfield Senior of Pasadena 1-0 by scoring the deciding goal on Jan. 26 to secure at least a share of the Prep League title.
Flintridge Prep routed host Pasadena Polytechnic 6-1 in a league match on Jan. 23.
Junior Valentina Mancilla finished with two goals and two assists, while senior Abigail Wang chipped in two goals. Freshman Avery McCormack recorded one goal and one assist, sophomore Juliet Oberley scored one goal, and senior Zaria Echemendia, junior Sarah Rude, sophomore Lauren Bradford and Marion each had one assist.
The first-place Wolves (14-3-2, 7-0-1) concluded the regular season at Palos Verdes Chadwick on Jan. 31; the league match ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Wolves will find out more about their Division I opponents when the CIF Southern Section playoff brackets are released on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academys Gianna Scaturchio and the Tologs visited Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for their regular season finale on Jan 31

The Tologs suffered a pair of Mission League losses on the road. FSHA fell to Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth, 2-1, on Jan. 24, and lost to Chaminade High in West Hills, 1-0, on Jan. 26. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
FSHA (3-11-2, 0-8) concluded the regular season at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Jan. 31; the league match ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
