La Cañada Girls’ Water Polo Seals League Title With Win Over South Pasadena

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ water polo team shut out visiting South Pasadena 10-0 in its Rio Hondo League and regular-season finale on Feb. 1.
Lilli Perner and Lorelei Rocca scored three goals, Kadyn Day chipped in two goals, and Kiley Ku and Sofia Korshakovsky each finished with one goal.
The Spartans overwhelmed visiting Monrovia 17-4 in a league game on Jan. 30.
Korshakovsky registered five goals, while Day scored four goals. Rocca and Perner each chipped in three goals, while Ku finished with two goals.
La Cañada, which finished as undefeated league champions with a 10-0 record (20-6 overall), opened its CIF Southern Section Division II playoff run at home on Feb. 7 against the winner of a wildcard matchup between Irvine or Long Beach Poly. The game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Spartans would advance to the quarterfinals and meet either Poly High of Riverside (13-14 overall) or Agoura (15-7 overall) on Feb. 10.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves concluded the regular season and Prep League play with a 12-3 victory over visiting Mayfield Senior of Pasadena on Jan. 31 as Nico Seaver racked up six goals.
Naomi Cohen and Leena Kamins each chipped in two goals, while Katelin Kinne scored one goal.
Flintridge Prep picked up a 12-9 league victory over visiting La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena on Jan. 29 as Dahlia Kamins finished with seven saves.
Seaver tallied four goals, Katelin Kinne contributed three goals, and Julianne Kinne, Leena Kamins, Sam Bonk, Sarah Bonk and Cohen each had one goal.
The Wolves, who finished second in league with an 8-2 record (15-4 overall), hosted St. Lucy’s High of Glendora (16-12 overall) for their CIF Southern Section Division IV opener on Feb. 6; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, Flintridge Prep would advance to the second round and meet either Glendale (11-11) or Buena High of Ventura (17-11) on Feb. 8.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs picked up a pair of Mission League wins on the road recently. FSHA defeated Louisville High in Woodland Hills, 22-5, on Jan. 23 and Marymount High in Los Angeles, 11-2, on Jan. 31.
FSHA also suffered a pair of league losses. The Tologs fell to Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City, 19-10, on Jan. 29 and lost to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 13-11, on Feb. 1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Sacred Heart, which finished fourth in league with a 2-3 record (15-8 overall), visited Cypress (16-7 overall) for its CIF Southern Section Division III opener on Feb. 6; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Tologs would advance to the second round and meet either California (19-6 overall) or Capistrano Valley High (11-12 overall) on Feb. 8.
