The Flintridge Prep varsity girls’ soccer team picked up a 2-1 victory at Palos Verdes Chadwick on Jan. 31 to secure its eighth consecutive outright Prep League title.
Seniors Abigail Wang and Zaria Echemendia each scored one goal, while sophomore Juliet Oberley and freshman Ava Hulefeld each had one assist.
The Wolves routed visiting Providence High of Burbank 12-0 in a league match on Jan. 29 as Echemendia amassed four goals and one assist.
Junior Dagny Marion and freshman Avery McCormack each tallied two assists and one goal, while senior Stella Smit, junior Valentina Mancilla and Oberley registered one goal and one assist. Junior Celeste Davila, sophomore Sadie Goodman and freshman Amelia Ralph each finished with one goal, while sophomore Elyse Mauer was credited with one assist.
Flintridge Prep (16-3-2 overall, 9-0-1 in league) will host Westlake High of Westlake Village (11-1-4 overall) in its CIF Southern Section Division I opener on Feb. 8. If victorious, the Wolves would battle either Moorpark (9-5-1) or Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach (16-2-1) in a second-round matchup on Feb. 10.
FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs lost at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 3-1 in their regular season and Mission League finale on Jan. 31 as Sachi Kaneko-Grun scored the one goal in a free kick just before the end of the first half.
The Tologs finished the campaign last in league with a 0-10 record (3-13-2 overall).
