La Cañada Boys’ Basketball’s Season Concludes in Playoff Opener

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost at Long Beach Poly 64-48 in its CIF Southern Section Division II-A opener on Feb. 7.
Senior Jack Reynolds poured in 17 points with three steals, three rebounds and two assists, while junior Josh Proctor registered 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Junior Josh Pastor tallied six points, three steals, three rebounds, two assists and one block, while senior Anders Petersen recorded five points, three steals, two rebounds and one assists. Junior Maddox Freeman chipped in three points and one steal, senior Conor Banks scored two points, and senior Matthew Plocher had two steals and one rebound.
The Spartans finished the campaign second in the Rio Hondo League with an 8-2 record (16-13 overall).

ST. FRANCIS

St Francis High School senior Chris Kalachian scored four points against Windward High in a CIF Southern Section Division I second round game on Feb 9

The Golden Knights lost at Windward High in Los Angeles 73-66 in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs on Feb. 9 as junior Mazi Mosley amassed 35 points, eight rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist.
Junior Noah Henry finished with nine points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while senior Ethan Childs tallied eight points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Junior Joe Hickey recorded four points, four rebounds and one block, while senior Chris Kalachian contributed four points, one rebound and one assist. Senior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo produced five rebounds and three points, junior Dyllen Domingo registered three points, three assists and two rebounds, and junior Ben O’Connor had two rebounds.
SFHS defeated host Pacifica Christian Orange County 45-39 in its CIF opener on Feb. 7 as Mosley poured in 18 points with eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Childs finished with nine points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Domingo registered seven points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Hickey chipped in six points, six rebounds and one block, while Henry recorded five points, two rebounds and one steal. Kalachian produced four rebounds and two assists, junior Aaron Matthews collected three rebounds, and Mitchell-Egbo had one steal and one rebound.
St. Francis finished the campaign fifth in the Mission League standings with a 3-4 record (20-11 overall).

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves lost to visiting San Gabriel Academy 51-44 in their CIF Southern Section Division II-A opener on Feb. 7.
Senior Henry Morrison poured in 18 points with nine rebounds, three blocks and one assist, while junior Lawson Holland finished with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior Noah Willingham recorded six points, four rebounds and two steals, senior Steven Ng chipped in six points, one steal and one assist, and senior William Bigby registered four assists, two points, two rebounds and one steal.
Flintridge Prep finished the campaign as Prep League co-champions with a 7-1 record (21-7 overall).
