Flintridge Prep Baseball Triumphs on Opening Day 

The St. Francis High School varsity baseball team opened the regular season with an 11-2 loss against visiting West Ranch High of Santa Clarita in an Easton Tournament game on Feb. 10.
Senior Brody Ruyle went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base, senior John Calmette registered a hit, a run and a stolen base, and junior Jordan Lewallen had one hit and a run. Senior Holden Deitch tallied an RBI, while junior Jayden Kim and sophomore Nick Kriebs each walked once.
Senior Lucas Favretto pitched 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts, senior Mishler finished with a pair of strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings of relief and senior Callum Clark pitched one inning of relief with a pair of strikeouts.
The Golden Knights (0-1 overall) will finish tournament play on Feb. 20 before hosting Thousand Oaks for a nonleague game on Feb. 22.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves defeated host Hoover High in Glendale 11-4 in their season opener on Feb. 10 as sophomore Will Grable went 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple, four RBIs and two runs.
Sophomore Nathan Sanok went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, while junior Matthew Chino, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, pitched a pair of perfect relief innings with five strikeouts. Freshman Nicholas Aparicio recorded a double and scored four runs, while junior Calvin Chen finished with a hit, two runs and three walks. Junior Brian Xu had one RBI and a walk, freshman Spancer Rolfe tallied an RBI, and juniors Will Koh and Casey Augenstein each walked once. Junior Rowan Schaeffer struck out six across four innings on the mound, while Greg Sue allowed two hits and one run in one inning of relief.
Flintridge Prep (1-0 overall) will host Village Christian High for its Dave Moore Tournament opener on Feb. 16 at 3 p.m.

LA CAÑADA
The Spartans opened the regular season at Burbank on Feb. 13; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
LCHS will host Muir High of Pasadena for a nonleague game on Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Chino Hills on Feb. 21.
