ALFie Company to Perform ‘Shrek the Musical JR.’

ALFie Company will present a special junior adaptation of Dreamworks’ “Shrek” on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. This Assistance League of Flintridge Drama presentation is based on the popular animated movie. Twenty-two actors will sing and dance across the stage at Lanterman Auditorium, which will be transformed for the night into an ogre swamp, a dragon’s lair, then to the castle of Lord Farquaad.
Attendees will enjoy watching the heartwarming story unfold as Shrek and Donkey journey to rescue Princess Fiona, who is being held captive by Dragon. When they return to meet with Lord Farquaad, things are not as they seem and Fiona must reevaluate her fantasy idea of what it means to have “one true love.”
This story is filled with adventure, plenty of humor and the zany characters fans have come to know and love.
The cast of fifth- and sixth-grade students from the local community will perform under the guidance of ALF Drama Director Katelyn Fike. Tristan Waldron is assistant director while Nancy Abbott, the musical director, assists with the vocal numbers and provides piano accompaniment.
Lanterman Auditorium is located at 4491 Cornishon Ave., La Cañada Flintridge. Admission is free. For more information, visit ALFlintridge.org or call (818) 790-2211.
