Baseball: La Cañada Falls to Temple City in Extras

The La Cañada High School varsity baseball team lost to visiting Temple City 5-3 in an extra-inning Rio Hondo League game on March 11.
Junior Flynn Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with a run at the plate, pitched five innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. Junior Seth Larsen pitched three scoreless innings with one strikeout, one hit and no walks, while junior Shaan Gupta pitched one inning with one strikeout.
Freshman Austin Loughrin went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, junior Leon Chen went 2-for-4 with two runs, and sophomore Finn Flower-Hogan went 2-for-5 with a stolen base. Sophomore Will Park tallied a base hit, junior Cash Carroll walked once and freshman Joe Bell stole a base.
The Spartans (4-2-1 overall, 0-2 in league) will visit Azusa for a nonleague game on March 19 at 3:15 p.m. before visiting Burroughs High in Burbank on March 21.

St Francis High School senior James Mishler pitched 1 23 innings with a strikeout during a Mission League game against Harvard Westlake High on March 6

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights were swept in their season series against Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City after suffering a 5-2 Mission League loss on March 8. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis was shut out by visiting Harvard-Westlake High 6-0 in a league game on March 6.
Senior Holden Deitch recorded a double, senior Kal-El Holguin and junior Dominik Hidalgo each tallied a base hit, and senior Jordan Viramontes walked once. Junior Nathan Kim pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout, one hit and no walks, sophomore Aiden Mahoney pitched three innings with two strikeouts, and senior James Mishler pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout.
St. Francis lost at Harvard-Westlake High 7-0 in a league game on March 5.
Junior Jordan Lewallen finished with a hit and a stolen base, Deitch had a base hit, and seniors John Calmette, Brody Ruyle and Aaron Hernandez each walked once. Senior Lucas Favretto pitched four innings with two strikeouts, while senior Callum Clark pitched two innings of relief.
The Golden Knights (5-6, 1-4) will host Taft High of Woodland Hills for a nonleague game on March 16 at 11 a.m. before hosting Loyola High of Los Angeles on March 19.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves lost at Upland 9-0 in the afternoon matchup of a nonleague doubleheader on March 9.
Junior Greg Sue pitched three innings with two strikeouts, junior Ethan Park pitched two innings of relief, and sophomore Will Grable pitched a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout.
Flintridge Prep suffered a 9-0 nonleague loss at Upland to kick off the doubleheader on March 9.
Junior Calvin Chen, freshman Nicholas Aparicio, freshman Spancer Rolfe and Grable each tallied a base hit. Junior captain Rowan Schaeffer pitched three innings, freshman Rocco Sablan pitched two scoreless innings, and junior Casey Augenstein pitched one inning.
The Wolves lost to visiting Pasadena Polytechnic 7-5 in a Prep League game on March 5.
Sophomore Nathan Sanok went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a run, a stolen base and a walk, Aparicio recorded a double, two RBIs and a stolen base, and Grable contributed a double and a run. Schaeffer produced a hit, an RBI and a walk, while junior Brian Xu tallied a base hit. Park walked twice and scored a run, while senior George Hayes walked once and scored a run. Junior Will Koh, who had a hit, an RBI, a run and a walk at the plate, pitched two innings with three strikeouts, while junior Matthew Chino pitched two scoreless innings with one strikeout and no hits.
Flintridge Prep (3-7, 1-2) will host Providence High of Burbank for a league game on March 15 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia on March 26.
