Boys’ Tennis: Singles Sweep Lifts Flintridge Prep Over Crescenta Valley

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ tennis team has been away from the courts since defeating Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in a nonleague game on Feb. 28.
The Spartans (2-1 overall) will host Monrovia for a Rio Hondo League match on March 19 at 4 p.m. before visiting South Pasadena on March 22.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves secured a narrow 10-8 nonleague victory over visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescent on March 11.
Flintridge Prep No. 2 singles player Ray Cabrera swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, No. 1 singles Jeremy Sieben swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, and No. 3 singles Nico Stanton also swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1. Meanwhile, the No. 1 doubles team of Finley Shivaram and Logan Wu added a 6-4 victory.
Flintridge Prep (5-1) will visit Duarte for a nonleague match on March 28 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on April 1 at 4 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta 16-2 in a nonleague match on March 8.
In singles action, No. 3 Armen Balikyan-Bekian won a set with a 6-4 score, while the No. 1 doubles team of Lucas Silva and Rafael Enfiadjian added a 7-5 victory.
St. Francis secured a 10-8 Mission League victory at Crespi High in Encino on March 5.
No. 2 Christian Tchakmakjian won a set with a 7-6 (7-3) score, while No. 3 Balikyan-Bekian added a 6-4 victory.
The No. 1 doubles team of Silva and Enfiadjian swept with scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 7-5, while the No. 2 tandem of Preston Kim and Arek Yacoubian also swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2. Meanwhile, the No. 3 duo of Logan King and Owen Mann won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
St. Francis (2-6 overall, 1-2 in league) will host Valley Christian High of Cerritos for a league match on March 20 at 1 p.m. before hosting Crespi High on March 21.
