The La Cañada High School varsity softball team crushed visiting Monrovia 15-5 in a Rio Hondo League game on March 22. Senior Elle Leckrone, who produced a double, three runs, two stolen bases and two walks at the plate, pitched a five-inning complete game with seven strikeouts.
Sophomore Ava Perry went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, junior Bentley Labrecque went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and senior Ashley Lovejoy went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Junior Grace Rocco recorded a double, four RBIs and a run, sophomore Laila Kazazian contributed a double, two RBIs and a run, and freshman Riley Labrecque tallied a double, two runs and a walk. Junior Aubrey Wurm scored twice, stole two bases and walked once, while freshman Lesley Milton scored once and stole a base.
The Spartans were shut out at Temple City 10-0 in a league game on March 20. Bentley Labrecque and Rocco each had a base hit, while Riley Labrecque stole a base.
La Cañada overwhelmed visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy with an 11-0 nonleague victory on March 19. Leckrone, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base at the plate, pitched four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, one walk and no hits.
Rocco, who had a hit, an RBI and a run at the plate, pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout and no walks, Kazazian finished with a home run and three total RBIs, and Lovejoy went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Riley Labrecque contributed a hit, three runs, two walks and a stolen base, Perry recorded a hit, two RBIs and a run, and senior Mia Salardino tallied a hit, a run and a stolen base. Wurm scored a run and stole a base, while Bentley Labrecque scored a run.
La Cañada (9-7-1 overall, 3-3 in league) will host Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles for a nonleague game on April 12 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Monrovia on April 16.
FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs lost at Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City 8-1 in a Sunshine League game on March 21. Senior Meaghan Coyle pitched a six-inning complete game with 11 strikeouts.
Sophomore Ena Ramsey recorded a double, while senior Colleen Traver tallied a hit and a run.
FSHA overwhelmed visiting San Marino with a 12-2 nonleague victory on March 20. Coyle pitched a six-inning complete game with 11 strikeouts, two unearned runs and one walk.
Junior Ava Nawrocki went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs, three runs and a walk, senior Megan Milton went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, two walks and a run, and freshman Jayne Bender went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a walk. Senior Abi Blea went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Ramsey went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Freshman Emma Dolan recorded a double and two RBIs, while sophomore Juliette Smith produced a double and a run. Additionally, freshman Siena Gundersen was credited with an RBI and a run.
The Tologs lost at La Cañada 11-0 in a nonleague game on March 19.
Traver pitched a five-inning complete game with one strikeout, Gundersen tallied a base hit and Bender walked once.
Flintridge Sacred Heart routed host Immaculate Heart High in Los Angeles 18-1 in its league opener on March 18. Coyle, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and a walk at the plate, pitched a five-inning complete game with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
Milton went 2-for-3 with a double, five RBIs, three runs and a walk, while Nawrocki went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Junior Gianna Candelora went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, while Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Gundersen went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, Blea went 2-for-3 with a run, and Traver contributed a double, three runs and two walks. Senior Pia Costanzo registered a hit, an RBI and a run, while Bender produced a hit and a run. Sophomore Cassey Pulido tallied a base hit, while Dolan scored three runs.
FSHA (10-7, 1-1) will visit Marymount High in Los Angeles for a league game on April 9 at 3:15 p.m. before traveling to Immaculate Heart High on April 11.
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves returned to action after a 12-day hiatus by hosting Providence High of Burbank on March 27. The Prep League game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
Flintridge Prep (8-2, 2-2) will visit Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia for a league game on March 29 at 3:15 p.m. before traveling to Mayfield Senior in Pasadena on April 4.
