La Cañada Presbyterian Church Presents Jazz Vespers on April 21

The Jack Lantz Sextet will present a Jazz Vespers concert and worship experience featuring the jazz versions of hymns, spirituals and gospel music in the La Cañada Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 21, at 5 p.m.
The music and liturgy for this edition are built around the themes of Easter, spring and joy.
LCPC Jazz Vespers is presented live in the sanctuary at LCPC. It will also be livestreamed at live.lacanadapc.org.
The Jazz Vespers program will feature the Jack Lantz Sextet, which consists of Lance Rickman on saxophone, Anne King on trumpet, Ido Meshulam on trombone, Nick Morabito on bass, Dave Marks on drums and Lantz on piano. The sextet improvises on a wide range of familiar hymns and gospel music, in jazz swing style. Simple liturgy and background stories are used to connect the music.
“Jazz is a great way for us to express the joy of Easter resurrection and the new blooms of spring,” Lantz said.
No charge but a freewill offering is accepted, and no reservations are required for the hourlong event.
La Cañada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge. For further information, call the church office at (818) 790-6708 or visit lacanadapc.org.
