Softball: La Cañada Shifts Focus to CIF Playoffs

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team posted a 9-2 Rio Hondo League victory at South Pasadena on April 19.
Senior captain Elle Leckrone, who had a hit, four walks, two runs and two stolen bases at the plate, pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no hits. Junior Bentley Labrecque, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI at the plate, pitched three innings with two strikeouts. Sophomore Laila Kazazian went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base, while freshman Riley Labrecque produced a double, an RBI and a run. Senior captain Mia Salardino recorded a hit, three RBIs and a stolen base, while junior Holly Hong tallied a base hit. Junior Grace Rocco was credited with an RBI and a run, while senior captain Ashley Lovejoy and sophomore Ava Perry each scored a run.
La Cañada picked up a 6-3 victory over visiting San Marino in a league game on April 17 as Bentley Labrecque pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Riley Labrecque went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBIs, two runs and a walk, while Perry went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Rocco produced a double and an RBI, while Salardino tallied a hit, two runs and a stolen base. Leckrone walked once and stole a base, Lovejoy walked once, and Kazazian scored a run.
The Spartans defeated visiting Monrovia 5-1 in a league game on April 16. Leckrone, who went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs, two stolen bases and an RBI at the plate, pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts.
Riley Labrecque recorded a hit and a run, while Bentley Labrecque and Rocco each had a hit and an RBI. Perry scored a run, while Wurm walked once.
La Cañada (15-7-1 overall, 7-3 in league) will visit San Marino for its regular-season finale on April 25. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on April 27 at 10 a.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior Asta Uziel recorded a hit and a stolen base during a nonleague game against Muir High on April 18

The Wolves lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena 11-0 in a nonleague game on April 18.
Junior Elise Fong, who went 2-for-2 with a stolen base at the plate, pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, while sophomore Emma Carmack pitched 3 1/3 innings with a strikeout.
Senior Asta Uziel recorded a hit and a stolen base, while freshman Leighton Acker tallied a base hit.
Flintridge Prep was shut out at Providence High in Burbank 12-0 in a Prep League game on April 16. Fong pitched 1 1/3 innings, Acker and Carmack each finished with a base hit, and junior Sienna Liston added a stolen base.
The Wolves (11-6, 5-5) visited Palos Verdes Chadwick for their regular-season finale on April 24; the league game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.


FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs overwhelmed visiting Marymount High of Los Angeles with a 13-3 Sunshine League victory on April 18. Senior Meaghan Coyle pitched a six-inning complete game with six strikeouts.
Junior Ava Nawrocki went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base, sophomore Ena Ramsey went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run and a walk, and freshman Jayne Bender went 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and a walk.
Senior Megan Milton registered a hit, three RBIs, two walks and a run, senior Abi Blea finished with a hit, two RBIs and two runs, and freshman Siena Gundersen recorded a hit, two runs, an RBI and a walk. Senior Colleen Traver walked twice and scored a run, while sophomore Juliette Smith was credited with three walks and a run.
FSHA (14-8, 4-1) will visit Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for its regular season finale on April 25.
