Lacrosse: Louie Reaches Goalkeeping Milestone

Despite a loss to Palos Verdes Chadwick, La Cañada High sophomore Gretchen Louie tallied 17 saves in the Prep League girls’ lacrosse matchup, reaching 300 career saves and joining an exclusive club.
In the 21-7 defeat, Spartans freshman Julie Chien recorded five goals and one assist, while freshman Nicole Otieno scored two goals. Junior captain Maddie McClure, sophomore Maddy Logelin and freshman Keira Miller each tallied one assist, while junior Kayle Cho collected four ground balls.
LCHS (6-11 overall, 1-5 in league) ended the regular season by hosting Westridge School of Pasadena on April 24; the league game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on April 27 at 11 a.m.

BOYS’ LACROSSE
The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team was shut out by visiting Village Christian High of Sun Valley 15-0 in a Gold Coast League game on April 18. The Spartans previously suffered an 11-8 league loss at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on April 16. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
LCHS (3-11, 1-7) will host Heritage Christian High of Northridge for its regular-season finale on April 25. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on April 27 at 11 a.m.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights defeated Crespi High of Encino 11-9 in a Mission League Tournament game on April 19 as junior Carlo Binda racked up 14 saves.
Junior Ezekiel Peraza finished with six ground balls and three goals, while junior Myles Henry recorded six ground balls and two goals. Junior Axel Gonzalez registered four ground balls, two goals and two assists, while junior Eric Garbo chipped in two goals and one assist. Senior Joseph Sonner tallied five ground balls and one goal, sophomore Quinn Montenegro produced one goal and one ground ball, and freshman Dawson Henry contributed seven ground balls and one assist. Junior Isaac Fajardo collected five ground balls, while senior Ryan James was credited with three ground balls. Senior Aidan Heberger, junior Carter Randall, junior Tyler Hedman and sophomore Alec Heberger each had one ground ball, while freshman Kaden Wiebe notched one assist.
St. Francis posted a 17-8 victory over visiting Chaminade High of West Hills in its tournament opener on April 16.
Peraza contributed five goals, four ground balls and two assists, Axel Gonzalez recorded six ground balls and four goals, and Myles Henry finished with seven ground balls, two goals and two assists. Montenegro produced three ground balls, two assists and one goal, Dawson Henry registered two ground balls, two assists and one goal, and Fajardo tallied two ground balls, one goal and one assist. Junior Valentino Notaro and James were credited with two ground balls and one goal, while senior Dustin Bell chipped in one goal and one ground ball. Binda made six saves, while freshman Enzo Gonzalez contributed three saves. Junior Elijah Cortes collected three ground balls, Wiebe had two ground balls and one assist, and junior William Garabedian and Sonner each notched two ground balls. Junior Dylan Allen, junior Alex Robles, junior Kieran Sheldon, sophomore Joseph Figueroa, Aidan Heberger, Alec Heberger and Hedman each had one ground ball, while sophomore Dexter Sohn had one assist.
The Golden Knights (13-6 overall, 5-1 in league) will host Newport Harbor High of Newport Beach for their regular-season finale on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on April 27 at 11 a.m.
