Softball: Rocco, Leckrone Sparks La Cañada Past San Marino

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team ended the regular season with a 12-0 Rio Hondo League victory at San Marino on April 25.
Junior Grace Rocco, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs at the plate, pitched four innings with seven strikeouts. Senior Elle Leckrone, who recorded a home run, three RBIs, two runs and a walk at the plate, pitched one inning with one strikeout.
Sophomore Ava Perry went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, senior Ashley Lovejoy went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk, and junior Bentley Labrecque went 2-for-4 with a run. Sophomore Laila Kazazian contributed a double and a run, while freshman Riley Labrecque tallied a hit, an RBI and a run. Junior Aubrey Wurm was credited with an RBI and a run, junior Holly Hong scored twice, and senior Mia Salardino finished with an RBI.
The Spartans lost to visiting Temple City 3-0 in a league game on April 23. Leckrone pitched four innings with five strikeouts, while, while Bentley Labrecque and Kazazian each had a base hit.
LCHS, which finished second in league with an 8-4 record (14-9 overall), will visit Cerritos (15-3) for its CIF Southern Section Division III opener on May 2 at 3:15 p.m.

The Tologs suffered an 11-1 Sunshine League loss at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in their regular-season finale on April 25. Senior Meaghan Coyle pitched a six-inning complete game with three strikeouts.
Freshman Siena Gundersen contributed a hit, an RBI and a walk, senior Megan Milton recorded a hit and a walk, and freshman Emma Dolan scored a run.
FSHA lost to visiting Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City 10-0 in a league game on April 24. Coyle, who went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate, pitched a complete game with four strikeouts. Freshman Jayne Bender contributed a double and a walk, senior Pia Costanzo and Gundersen each tallied a base hit, and junior Grace Garrity and Milton each walked once.
The Tologs, who finished second in league with a 4-2 record (14-10 overall), will host San Marcos High of Santa Barbara (14-7) in their CIF Southern Section Division IV opener on May 2 at 3:30 p.m. If victorious, Flintridge Sacred Heart would advance to the second round and meet either Paraclete High of Lancaster (24-2) or Burbank (12-12) on May 7.

Flintridge Prep senior Alex Von Thaden went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to help the Wolves beat Hamilton High in their CIF SS Division VI wildcard game on April 30

The Wolves overwhelmed host Hamilton High in Anza with a 16-4 victory in a CIF Southern Section Division VI wildcard game on April 30, as junior Elise Fong pitched six innings with five strikeouts.
Sophomore Mary Sinclair went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five runs, three RBIs, three stolen bases and a walk, while sophomore Emma Carmack went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, one run, a stolen base and a walk. Senior Alex Von Thaden went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run, junior Sienna Liston went 2-for-5 with a triple, a double and four runs, and freshman Leighton Acker went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Meanwhile, senior Ava Burlingame and sophomore Allie Dennis each scored a run.
Flintridge Prep picked up a 5-0 Prep League victory at Palos Verdes Chadwick in their regular-season finale on April 24. Fong pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Carmack recorded a hit and an RBI, while Von Thaden finished with a hit and a stolen base. Liston registered three walks, three stolen bases, two runs and an RBI, senior Asta Uziel walked twice, scored a run and stole a base, and Sinclair walked twice and scored a run. Junior Sarah Rude scored a run and stole a base, while Burlingame and Acker each walked once.

Flintridge Prep, which finished fourth in league with a 6-6 record (13-7 overall), will visit Granite Hills High in El Cajon (17-6-1) for a first-round matchup on May 2 at 3:15 p.m.
