La Cañada Unified School District elementary schools closed out the year with band and strings concerts at Lanterman Auditorium on May 8 and 9.
Assistance League of Flintridge hosted students from La Cañada’s three elementary schools in their final concerts of the year. The performance showcased the young talent and outstanding progress the students had made since the beginning of the school year.
Since 1985, Assistance League has underwritten and organized the Instrumental Music program for grades four through six, providing thousands of students the experience and joy of learning to play an instrument. La Cañada Unified will assume responsibility for the program in the next school year.
The 150 students participating in Beginning Band, Concert Band, Beginning Strings and String Orchestra learned pieces ranging from traditional folk songs and pop music to classical works by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Handel. A number of students performed solos for appreciative audiences each evening.
Assistance League of Flintridge is a nonprofit service organization of volunteers committed to identifying and serving community needs through philanthropic programs. New members are always welcome.
ALF Summer School starts June 17. Register now for music, drama and other enrichment classes. For more information, visit ALFlintridge.org.
