Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and the La Cañada and St. Francis high schools were represented by standout athletes at the 2024 CIF Southern Section Masters Meet at Moorpark High School on May 18, with competitors hoping to earn a spot at the state event in Clovis. La Cañada is sending six athletes in five different events to compete at the CIF State Track & Field Championships at Buchanan High beginning May 24.

In the girls’ track events, Katelyn Matarese finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 11.98 seconds. Maya De Brouwer also placed fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 10:23.19. The 4×400 relay team of Katie McGuinness, Samantha Hosford, Sarina Parks and Matarese finished sixth and shattering a 40-year-old school record with a time of 3:51.47.
