After making his move across town to Dodger Stadium following six years with the Angels, baseball’s international superstar Shohei Ohtani is slated for another move — this time to La Cañada Flintridge.
The two-time American League MVP has bought a new home in LCF, which will be within earshot of his workplace at the Chavez Ravine.
Ohtani’s new commute timeframe: roughly 20 minutes — without traffic.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Ohtani’s new three-story, 7,300-square-foot residence, which reportedly was priced at $7.85 million, includes five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and a multitude of commodities like a movie theater, sauna, basketball court and swimming pool. Originally built in 2013, the mansion was previously under the ownership of comedian Adam Carolla.
LCF’s other celebrity residents include Angela Bassett and Mario Lopez.
Regarded as the best two-way player in baseball for his skills as both a hitter and pitcher, the 29-year-old is making headway as a Dodger after spending six years with the Angels. Ohtani signed one of the most lucrative deals in U.S. sports history after joining the Dodgers last December on a 10-year contract worth $700 million. Ohtani has more than 2,000 runs, nearly 180 homeruns, more than 400 RBIs and a .279 batting average as a hitter. He is also a two-time winner of the Silver Slugger award.
Ohtani’s crosstown move to the Dodgers has been widely welcomed. Recently, the Los Angeles City Council designated May 17 as “Shohei Ohtani Day.”
Both listing agent Peter Owens of Douglas Elliman Real Estate and Jeanne Valvo of Coldwell Banker Realty, who represented Ohtani, declined to comment.
