Spirits ran high at La Cañada Elementary School’s last spirit rally of the year, which honored retiring teacher Jan Rappleye.
Student council members donated a bright yellow buddy bench to the school from money raised from candy grams.
Jayden Kim performed a trumpet solo of the school song, and Logan Niemann sang “You Can Count on Me.” To everyone’s surprise, the fifth-graders got up and danced the “Hustle.”
“Paws for Praise” recipients were also named at the event.
