Eighth graders at La Cañada High School were recognized for their academic accomplishments June 5 during the school’s promotion ceremony at Spartan Stadium.
The processional featured “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the seventh-grade Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Amanda Svetich. Individual students gave a multicultural welcome in 15 languages, including sign language. The 7/8 Honor Choir, conducted by Jeff Brookey, sang the national anthem. Abigail Weiss and Yuna Mok delivered promotional addresses.
Allison Dalbeck announced the Scoville-Tupper award, which went to Tiffany Lee. Jarrett Gold, the LCHS 7/8 principal, announced London Niemiec as the recipient of the Principal’s Award.
In his closing comments, Gold encouraged the students to be good people by being kind and compassionate.
