Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station Shares Wildfire Safety Tips

In honor of National Wildfire Awareness Month, the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station would like to remind local residents to remain vigilant and ensure that they are prepared for a wildfire by sharing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s tips on social media.
“If you live on a hillside, or are spending time outdoors and see smoke or a fire, call 911,” said the Facebook post. “Report the exact location of the fire and, if known, what is burning or the color of the smoke.”
The department urges residents to make a plan, be mindful of brush clearances and prepare for an evacuation if a fire starts. They also encourage people to use the check list below when evacuating:

  • People and pets
  • Papers, phone numbers and important documents
  • Prescriptions and eyeglasses
  • Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia
  • Plastic (credit cards, ATM cards a cash)
  • Personal computer, flash drives and hard drives
They also suggest residents to have any emergency supplies you think you may need, including a change of clothing and toiletries also ready.
