Connie Baxter

Date of Death

Connie Baxter, a resident of La Cañada for 54 years, died on January 20, at the age of 88.
She was born on July 18, 1934, in Eau Clair, Wisconsin, to Clyde and Ethel McCollum.
In 1953 she moved to Long Beach, California, where she met her future husband Jerry Baxter. The couple was married in 1955. She moved with her husband and three children to La Cañada in 1964 and lived there until 2018 when she moved to a retirement home in Irvine.
She worked for many years for the state of California’s Business Enterprises Program, which provides opportunities for individuals who are legally blind to become independent business owners in the food service industry.
She was also a member of the La Cañada United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed traveling, reading, USC football, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters Beth Mattera of San Diego, California; Karen Dickie of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; and her son Kent Baxter of La Cañada, California.
She also leaves six grandchildren (Kayley Danielson, Torre Berro, Austin Dickie, Curtis Dickie, Graeme Baxter, and Ellis Baxter) and five great-grandchildren (Ainsley Danielson, Kacey Berro, Cameron Berro, Logan Dickie, and Caleb Dickie).
Services will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on February 17.
