Date of Death

Leonard (Len) D. Stimpson, Jr. of Pasadena passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022, from natural causes. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 96. He was born on August 19, 1925, in Garden Grove California, to Leonard and Daisy Stimpson. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta Stimpson.  

He is survived by one brother, Warren Stimpson. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Schneider Stimpson. Len is lovingly remembered by his children Joan (Dan) Krauter, Dale (Donna) Stimpson, Kim (Greg) Elliott, David (Yvette) Stimpson and Darrell Stimpson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.  

Leonard graduated from Whittier College with his B.S. in mathematics and UC Berkeley with his M.S. in mathematics. He also received his M.S. in aerodynamics from Caltech. Leonard worked at McDonnellDouglas, the Rand Corporation, Ford Aeronutronic Division, Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Aerojet. He retired after 37 years of service. Leonard was an active member of La Cañada Presbyterian Church for 56 years. He served on many committees at the church. He also served on the board of the Pasadena Youth Christian Center as president, treasurer and secretary for 30 years. Leonard loved traveling, the beach, gardening, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Leonard was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 19431946 in the Philippines. 

 A Celebration of Life was held at La Cañada Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 20. Donations may be made to La Cañada Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir or Voyagers Cargo and Reaching People Far from God.
