Hanne Ward

Hanne Ward, 74, of La Cañada Flintridge, passed away on July 20 with her family by her side. Born in Søborg, Denmark, Hanne and her family immigrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1951, and then to Altadena in 1955. They ultimately settled in La Cañada Flintridge in 1966.
Hanne graduated from John Muir High School and later received her cosmetology and real estate licenses. In 1993, Hanne moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she bought commercial property and ran several small businesses, including the popular Hanne’s Hayden Lake Espresso Hut. Hanne later returned to Southern California to be closer to her family.
She treasured the many longtime friendships she developed over the years and especially enjoyed watching her family grow up around her. Those close to her will always remember her warm smile and her laugh, especially during the holidays, when she would find delight in creating enchantment for her grandchildren.
Hanne is survived by two daughters, Heidi (Bryan) Crowder and Michelle (Eric Ganz) Ward; five grandchildren, Taylor, Dane, Paige, Charlotte and Soren; brother, John Petersen; sister, Margit (Chuck) Arrobio; nephew, Spencer (Nichole) Kirkpatrick; and niece, Pia Arrobio. She was preceded in death by her parents Karoline and Orla Petersen.
A memorial will be held on Thursday, August 24, at 2 p.m. at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. Donations can be made in her name to the Pasadena Humane Society.
