Date of Death

Robert Wayne Bunn, a 50-year resident of South Pasadena, passed away peacefully at age 90 at Huntington Memorial Hospital, on February 25, 2022. His family was by his side.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Ardis; three children, Evelyn (Bradley) Anderson, Jana (Craig) Brown, and Sheri (Kerry) San Chirico; 10 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elinor (Thomas) Bunn; Patricia & Carl Zeller; and Alan and Susan Blackburne; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Robert was an active resident of South Pasadena, supporting his girls and their friends through school and sports activities (often attending SPHS sporting events wearing an orange construction hat) and teaching at least a hundred local teenagers how to water ski at Lake Arrowhead.

He was born in La Cañada Flintridge in 1931 to Thomas Simms Bunn and Ellen Douglas Bunn, the third of three boys, all who remained and worked locally in Pasadena through their long lives.

After graduating from USC in 1951, Robert served as a Naval officer and Chaplain in the Korean War and later earned master’s degrees of divinity and psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. He was general manager of Channel 22, a family-owned television station and first to broadcast the stock market and foreign language programming in Los Angeles. He later served as a marriage and family therapist.

Bob was active in church life and served in various leadership positions, most recently at La Cañada Presbyterian Church for 55 years. He had a deep and abiding faith in Christ, and a generous and positive attitude. He was always up for a fun adventure, and he delighted in the people he knew from all walks of life.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, in La Cañada Flintridge. Please contact the family at (754) 399-8788 for more information.
