Lacrosse: Golden Knights Blank Newport Harbor in Finale

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ lacrosse ended the season with a 12-1 Prep League loss at Glendale on April 25.
Sophomore Gretchen Louie racked up 10 saves and one ground ball, while freshman Hana Valderhaug finished with one goal and one ground ball. Junior Darlene Perez, freshman Keira Miller and freshman Karis Wilcox each collected two ground balls, while sophomore Rachel Herrick and freshman Melia Khalili each had one ground ball.
The Spartans lost to visiting Westridge School of Pasadena 5-3 in a league game on April 24.
Freshman Julie Chien chipped in two goals, Miller scored one goal, and Herrick was credited with one assist. Louie finished with six saves and two ground balls, Perez tallied two ground balls, and junior Kayle Cho, junior Irelyn Fung, sophomore Kayla Bowman, sophomore Madison Hunt, freshman Nicole Otieno and Valderhaug each had one ground ball.
LCHS finished tied for fourth in league with a 1-7 record (6-13 overall).

BOYS’ LACROSSE
The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team suffered an 11-5 Gold Coast League loss to visiting Heritage Christian High of Northridge in its regular-season finale on April 25. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans finished the campaign sixth in league with a 1-9 record (3-15 overall).

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights ended the regular season with a 14-0 victory over visiting Newport Harbor High of Newport Beach in a nonleague game on April 25.
St. Francis junior Carlo Binda contributed 14 saves, while junior Axel Gonzalez finished with four goals and four ground balls. Senior Joseph Sonner racked up five ground balls and three goals, junior Ezekiel Peraza registered five ground balls, three assists and two goals, and senior Ryan James produced four ground balls, two goals and one assist. Senior Jayden Siques chipped in one goal and one assist, while senior Jacob Solomon and junior Carter Randall each scored one goal. Junior Isaac Fajardo collected six ground balls, senior Dustin Bell recorded four ground balls, and sophomore Quinn Montenegro tallied three ground balls and one assist. Senior Aidan Heberger and junior Myles Henry each had two ground balls and one assist, junior James Rivera, sophomore Alec Heberger and sophomore Joseph Figueroa each had one ground ball, and sophomore Dexter Sohn was credited with one assist.
SFHS lost at Loyola High in Los Angeles 15-4 in the Mission League Tournament championship game on April 23.
Binda tallied 22 saves and two ground balls, while Randall scored two goals. Peraza finished with two ground balls, one goal and one assist, while junior Eric Garbo chipped in one goal and one ground ball. Sonner recorded two ground balls and one assist, while Gonzalez was credited with one assist and one ground ball. Fajardo registered two ground balls, while Myles Henry, Aidan Heberger, Alec Heberger and James each collected one ground ball.
St. Francis, who finished second in league with a 5-1 record (14-7 overall), visited Westlake High in Westlake Village (15-3) on May 1; the CIF Southern Section Division I first-round game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Golden Knights would advance to the quarterfinals and travel to Mater Dei High in Santa Ana (14-3) on May 3.
