Montana LaBarge, a 5th-grader at Paradise Canyon Elementary School, is inviting the community to come kick around a soccer ball for a good cause.
With the goal of raising $2,000 to donate to City of Hope for cancer research, she is organizing a soccer tournament to raise funds. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, March 4, at La Cañada High School. The entry fee is a tax-deductible donation to City of Hope, suggested to be between $10-$100. All are welcome to play; sign-ups are open for individuals and teams of seven.
LaBarge, a club soccer player with L.A. Premier FC, started raising money for the tournament in December, when she collected $212 by selling soccer jerseys printed with her logo at the Montrose Farmers Market.
