Parcel Tax Exemption Open; Oversight Help Sought

La Cañada Unified School District residents wishing to submit a senior citizen or contiguous parcel exemption form for the 2017 tax year may do so until June 30.
Parcel tax exemption forms are available from the District’s Fiscal Services Office located at 4490 Cornishon Ave., or may be downloaded from the district’s website lcusd.net.
Residents who previously submitted a senior citizen or contiguous parcel exemption form do not need to reapply for the exemption. Those forms, unless the property owner’s circumstances have changed, are good for all years the parcel tax is in effect. Residents 65 years or older can apply for tax exemption.
The district is also updating membership on the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee.
The committee’s purpose is to ensure that the special tax funds are spent for their authorized purpose and to report annually to the Governing Board and the public regarding expenditures of such funds. The committee meets twice each year and reports to the Governing Board in the spring.
Members of the committee will be representative of the following categories: parents or guardians of current students, a representative of the business community, a senior citizen and a member at large.
Applications are available at the district office at 4490 Cornishon Ave., or may be requested via email at kbergner@lcusd.net. The application deadline is Friday, April 14.
For more information on the committee, call (818) 952-8381. For more about the exemption, call Sandy Miller at (818) 952-8390.
