Four La Cañada Flintridge Boy Scout troops, which are part of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council’s Rose Bowl district, held a Merit Badge Day at La Cañada High School. More than 100 boys gathered to take one of 12 classes offered by counselors from the various troops.
The classes allowed the boys to explore various careers and hobbies, led by experts in the fields. The weather class was treated to a visit and discussion with KABC-TV meteorologist Dallas Raines, who not only discussed the field of meteorology but also the history of the climate on our continent.

Merit badges included animation, automotive maintenance, coin collecting, crime prevention, dog care, fingerprinting, law, medicine, moviemaking, music, radio and weather.
