57th Showcase House Reimagines Oaklawn Manor

First published in the April 21 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The long-awaited Pasadena Showcase House of Design makes its debut on April 24 in a triumphant return after a three-year hiatus. This year’s Showcase House — the 57th — reimagines Oaklawn Manor, a 1905 English Tudor mansion in South Pasadena.
The home anchors a historic Greene & Greene-planned neighborhood and features baronial-sized rooms, historic stained-glass windows, multiple fireplaces and a magnificent ballroom staircase. Twenty-one interior and landscape designers have made over every square inch of the mansion.
In addition, several restaurants and more than 20 boutique shops featuring jewelry, home goods, clothing, and more complement the Showcase experience.
One of the oldest, largest, and most successful home and garden tours in the country, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design is a benefit fundraiser for local music and arts programs. Daily tours run Tuesday-Sunday through May 22 with complimentary parking and shuttle from the Rose Bowl.
Tickets and information can be found at pasadenashowcase.org or by calling (626) 606.1600.
