I usually don’t respond to letters to the editor, but the letter of Sept. 29 from Marcus Johansson was so extreme and insulting to La Cañada residents I felt a need to write something.
Marcus said, “The disease of overbearing government has reached La Cañada. … The school district has been taken over by leftist ideologues, crazed and drugged homeless right out of China and the former Soviet Union.”
He actually wrote that.
I have lived and worked in La Cañada for almost 40 years. This beautiful small town has been wonderful to live in, and to raise our kids. The school system is incredibly good. It’s not “in decline and taken over by leftists.”
It’s these kinds of irresponsible and ridiculous comments that led to the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C.
Our country is better than this, La Cañada is better than this. Let’s get back to the time we can disagree on politics without violence and extreme rhetoric.
