Wolves Win League Opener

The Flintridge Prep varsity boys’ water polo team opened Prep League action last Wednesday with a 23-11 victory over visiting La Salle College Preparatory.
Senior goalie John Bennett racked up 14 saves in the cage while senior Ty Young collected a team-high six goals. Senior Noah Corral tallied five goals, while senior Henry Brookbanks and sophomore Charlie Simonian each had four goals.
The Wolves (12-3 overall, 1-0 in league) will compete in the two-day Claremont Tournament on Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8.

LA CANADA
The Spartans lost their Rio Hondo League opener last Tuesday at San Marino, 21-20. No individual statistics were reported by the LCHS coaching staff.
La Cañada (2-9 overall, 0-1 in league) will visit Birmingham High of Lake Balboa for a nonleague game on Friday, Oct. 7, at 3:30 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS
SFHS remained winless in Mission League action after narrowly losing last Wednesday at Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, 10-8.
Senior Jason Alietti led with four goals, senior Jozef Gutierrez produced three goals and three steals, and sophomore Nick Karamarian added one goal. Meanwhile, senior goalie Nicola Notaro collected six saves in the cage and senior Noel Gutierrez tallied a pair of steals.
St. Francis (9-9 overall, 0-3 in league) will compete in the two-day Claremont Tournament this Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8.
