La Cañada, St. Francis, Flintridge Prep in Action

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer team lost to host Burroughs High in Burbank, 3-2, in the 29th annual Ralph Brandt Tournament on Monday.
Senior Royce Xiao and sophomore Harrison Chant each scored once for the Spartans.
LCHS picked up its first win of the season after North Valley Military Institute forfeited a tournament game on Saturday.
LC lost its tournament opener against La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena, 5-4, last Friday, as Chant and freshman Rafayel Sahakyan each scored a pair of goals.
The Spartans previously lost their nonleague matchup against visiting Burbank, 1-0.
La Cañada (1-5 overall) will visit Maranatha High in Pasadena for a nonleague game on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 5:30 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights were edged in a nonleague game at Santa Barbara, 3-2, on Saturday.
Senior Giovanni Nieves and junior Mikey McCarthy each scored once to help SFHS build a 2-1 advantage at halftime. Each team was limited to eight shots on target, while both St. Francis goalkeepers, sophomore Tim Murphy and freshman Rome Strongin, each recorded one save.
The Golden Knights opened the regular season by blanking visiting Flintridge Prep, 2-0, in a nonleague game last Wednesday. After a scoreless first half, juniors Alex Lopez and Luke Wyatt found the back of the net to help propel St. Francis to a season-opening victory.
SFHS (1-1 overall) will visit Palos Verdes for a nonleague game on Friday, Dec. 9, at 3:15 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves picked up their first win of the season after routing visiting Duarte, 7-0, in a nonleague game on Monday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep was shut out in a nonleague game at St. Francis High last Wednesday.
The Wolves previously lost their nonleague season-opener at La Salle College Preparatory in Pasadena, 4-3. Junior Leo Ferry registered a pair of goals while senior Henry Brookbanks scored once. Senior Sean O’Leary, senior EQ Willis and freshman Jonah Rose were each credited with an assist.
Flintridge Prep (1-2 overall) will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick for its Prep League opener on Friday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m.
