Spartans Crush Blair, 68-24

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ basketball team picked up its second straight win and third of its last four after defeating Ayala High of Chino Hills, 40-30, in a nonleague game on Saturday.
Sophomore Jennifer Musso racked up a game-high 23 points with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. Senior Mia Oakley-Stilson tallied five points, seven boards and two steals while junior Isabella Chividjian finished with five points and six rebounds. Junior Talia Miyamoto registered three points, six boards and one steal, sophomore Sydney Magtoto had two points, four rebounds and three steals, and junior Annabel Le two had points and one steal. Meanwhile, freshman Emma Sengul collected one steal, one board and one assist.
The Spartans previously routed host Blair High in Pasadena, 68-24, in their Rio Hondo League opener. Musso amassed 25 points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists while junior Andrianna Pitsos poured in 10 points with seven steals, four boards and one assist. Oakley-Stilson registered eight points, five steals, five rebounds, two assists and one block, freshman Madison Hunt finished with eight points, six boards, five steals and one assist, and Sengul tallied eight points and six rebounds. Magtoto recorded four points, nine boards, four steals, two blocks and one assist, Miyamoto produced two points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist, and senior Niloofar Sahimi scored two points. Chividjian had five boards, one steal and one point while Le collected one steal, one rebound and one assist.
La Cañada hosted South Pasadena in a league contest yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
LCHS (10-8 overall, 1-0 in league) will host Monrovia in a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m.

  • Flintridge Prep sophomore Gigi Mastras and the Wolves will resume Prep League action by hosting Providence High of Burbank on Friday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m.
  • Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy senior Jazmin Jones and the Tologs will host Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles in an Angelus League game today at 6 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs lost their Angelus League opener at Louisville High in Woodland Hills, 79-26, last Thursday as senior Meghan Garrity and sophomore Ava Nawrocki each scored seven points.
FSHA (8-10 overall, 0-1 in league) will host Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles in a league game today at 6 p.m. before visiting Notre Dame Academy for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves (16-1 overall, 3-0 in league), who are in the midst of an outstanding season, will resume Prep League action by hosting Providence High of Burbank on Friday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m.
