LC’s Hofman Approaches Milestone Victory

The league-leading La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Marshall High of Los Angeles, 72-46, in a Chatsworth High School Showcase game on Saturday.
The Spartans’ eighth consecutive victory was also legendary head coach Tom Hofman’s 798th career win.
Sophomore Josh Proctor posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Samuel Guerrero registered 11 points, five assists and three boards, junior Matthew Plocher finished with 10 points, six rebounds and one assist, and junior Jack Reynolds recorded 10 points, three steals and three assists.
Sophomore Josh Pastor tallied six points, three assists and two steals, senior Evan Mulcahey scored six points with one block and one assist, and senior Jacob Pastor had five points, three assists, two boards and one block. Senior Corey Cheung scored three points, senior Jason Brown produced two points and three rebounds, and junior Dhilon Gupta scored two points. Junior Jaidon Gupta posted one steal and one assist, senior Trent Carey collected a pair of boards, senior Danny Evans and junior Spencer Moravec were each credited with an assist, and seniors Finn Cook and Enzo Andraos each had one rebound.
The Spartans defeated host Monrovia, 64-45, in a Rio Hondo League game last Friday as Reynolds racked up 21 points, two steals, two boards, one block and one assist. Mulcahey poured in 10 points with two rebounds and one steal, Proctor registered eight points, seven boards and two steals, and Jacob Pastor tallied eight points, three steals, one block and one assist. Guerrero produced six points, five assists, four rebounds, one block and one steal, Plocher recorded five points, one steal, one board and one assist, and junior Anders Petersen finished with four points, two steals, two rebounds and two assists. Andraos scored two points, Josh Pastor collected two steals and one board, and Evans and Cook had one block and one rebound, respectively.
LCHS previously completed the season sweep with a 74-51 league victory at South Pasadena. Guerrero racked up 20 points, three boards, two steals and one assist while Proctor registered a double-double with 15 points, 18 rebounds and one steal. Plocher finished with 13 points, one steal, one board and one assist while Jacob Pastor poured in 11 points with three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Reynolds tallied six points, four assists, one block, one steal and one board, Mulcahey recorded three points, two rebounds, one block and one assist, and Petersen produced three points, two boards and one assist. Cook posted two points, one block and one rebound while Andraos scored one point. Josh Pastor collected two assists, two boards and one steal while Evans had one block.
The first-place Spartans (19-7 overall, 7-1 in league) will conclude the regular season by hosting Temple City tonight at 7 p.m. The CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, Feb. 5, at noon.

The Golden Knights lost to visiting Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City, 68-55, in a Mission League game last Friday as senior captain Jackson Mosley surpassed the career milestone of 1,000 points. He finished with 25 points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Sophomore Mazi Mosley registered seven points, three boards, two blocks, two steals and one assist, junior Greg Gazarian scored eight points, and senior captain Luke McGrath tallied six points and one rebound. Senior George Tupy recorded four points, eight boards and three assists, senior Brandin Dantzler posted three points, six rebounds, one block and one assist, and junior Kennedy Mitchell-Egbo had two points, three boards and one block. Meanwhile, juniors Chris Kalachian and Ethan Childs each collected one rebound.
SFHS previously defeated visiting rival Loyola High of Los Angeles in a league game, 64-55. Jackson Mosley racked up 23 points, five steals, two boards and two assists while Mazi Mosley poured in 15 points with three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Tupy scored nine points with four boards, McGrath recorded seven points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Dantzler tallied six points, 12 boards, four assists, two steals and one block. Kalachian registered two points and two rebounds, Gazarian finished with two points and Mitchell-Egbo had one board.
The fourth-place Golden Knights (19-9 overall, 4-3 in league) will compete in the league tournament next week before the CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets are released on Sunday, Feb. 5, at noon.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves picked up their third straight win by defeating host Palos Verdes Chadwick, 42-30, in a Prep League game last Friday as senior Geoffrey Stetson poured in 13 points.
Senior Jack Jones and junior Henry Morrison each scored seven points, senior Marvin Furuta finished with five points and junior Will Bigby tallied four points. Senior Caleb Bowne recorded three points while senior Theo Kuo had two points.
Flintridge Prep previously routed visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia in a league matchup, 74-27. Senior Andrew Jordan racked up 17 points, Morrison poured in 14 points and junior Steven Ng registered 12 points. Bowne drained three 3-pointers while Bigby scored six points. Senior Chris Fung, freshman Owen Willingham, Kuo and Furuta each tallied three points, Jones finished with two points, and junior Noah Willingham and Stetson each had one point.
The first-place Wolves (17-6 overall, 6-0 in league) visited second-place Providence High in Burbank for their regular-season finale yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, Feb. 5, at noon.
