La Cañada High School has back-to-back years with a CIF-Southern Section champion and its first-ever girls’ champion in Kera Finnigan, who placed first in CIF Individuals tournament at Canyon Springs High School on Saturday.
No. 1-seeded Finnigan dispatched her first three opponents by fall and won a decisive 7-3 victory in the finals against Alexandra Argumosa from Santiago High in Garden Grove.
“Kera is so deserving of this achievement,” LCHS head coach Justin Luthey said. “She is the hardest worker on the team and the perfect embodiment of a leader and a champion. She is consistent, driven, humble and encouraging of others. I’m so happy to see her reach her goals.”
This brings Finnigan’s record to 25-3 this season, her last loss was prior to Thanksgiving. She and four other wrestlers from La Cañada will compete in the CIF Masters Meet on Friday and Saturday in Palm Springs.
