The La Cañada High School varsity softball team increased its winning streak to three games after sweeping its Duarte Tournament doubleheader on Saturday.
The Spartans defeated Covina, 7-5, in the matinee matchup as junior Elle Leckrone went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, four RBIs and two runs. Junior Ashley Lovejoy went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, freshman Laila Kazazian registered two hits and an RBI, and sophomore Aubrey Wurm finished with a hit, two runs and a stolen base. Senior Kyra Davis recorded a hit and a run, sophomore Grace Rocco had a hit and a walk, and junior Mia Salardino scored once.
LCHS opened tournament action with a 5-2 victory over Charter Oak High of Covina as sophomore Bentley Labrecque, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI, pitched a complete game four-hitter with eight strikeouts while allowing two earned runs. Rocco went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs and an RBI while Leckrone went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs. Davis and Salardino each tallied a hit and a run, Lovejoy recorded a hit and an RBI, and senior Riley Breckheimer had a hit and a walk.
The Spartans previously edged host Monrovia, 3-2, in its Rio Hondo League opener. Davis went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a stolen base and an RBI while Breckheimer went 2-for-3 with a double. Leckrone pitched 5.1 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Labrecque, who had a hit at the plate, pitched 1.2 perfect innings with one strikeout to earn the win in relief. Freshman Ava Perry and Lovejoy each recorded a hit and a run, Wurm tallied a hit, a walk and an RBI, and Salardino was credited with an RBI.
La Cañada (3-3 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit Temple City for a league game on Friday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting San Marino on March 14.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs opened the Shapiro Classic by winning both games of a doubleheader against visiting Bell Gardens on Saturday.
FSHA won the matinee matchup 8-0 against Bell Gardens as junior Meaghan Coyle pitched a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts, three hits and a walk. Senior captain Marie Milton went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run while sophomore Ava Nawrocki went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Senior captain Charlotte Taylor registered a hit, a stolen base and a run, senior Meghan Garrity finished with a hit and two RBIs, and junior Megan Milton recorded a hit and two runs. Seniors Ellie McCarthy and Carly Crossland each tallied a hit while senior Cassie Huston scored once after reaching on a pair of walks.
FSHA opened tournament action with a 9-1 victory over Bell Gardens as Huston allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks with one strikeout across five innings. Marie Milton went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI while McCarthy went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Megan Milton went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI while senior Cameron Bender went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Nawrocki recorded a hit and a run while Crossland had a hit. Garrity scored once after reaching on a walk while freshman Ena Ramsey scored once.
The Tologs previously routed host San Marino in a nonleague game, 20-2. Megan Milton went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, Taylor went 3-for-4 with three runs and a walk, and Nawrocki went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs. McCarthy went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Marie Milton went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs. Coyle, who went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, struck out five of 11 batters she faced while allowing a hit and an unearned run over three innings to earn the win. Freshman Juliette Smith registered a hit, three runs and an RBI while junior Abigail Blea walked once and scored three runs.
Undefeated FSHA (5-0 overall) will visit Alverno Heights Academy in Sierra Madre for a nonleague game on Monday, March 13, at 3:30 p.m. before opening Sunshine League action at Immaculate Heart High in Los Feliz on March 16.
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves routed visiting Desert Christian High of Lancaster, 17-1, in a nonleague game last Friday. Asta Uziel went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs, Elise Fong recorded a hit, an RBI and scored once, and Emma Carmack went 2-for-3.
Flintridge Prep recently edged visiting Maranatha High of Pasadena in a nonleague game, 6-5, as Jaclyn Sim struck out two across 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win while allowing a hit and two walks. Uziel went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs, an RBI and a walk, Mary Sinclair recorded a hit, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, and Fong, who had a hit, an RBI and a run at the plate, struck out three batters over 4.1 innings. Sarah Bougdanos finished with a hit, an RBI and a run while Carmack went 2-for-3. Madison Lin registered a hit and an RBI, Sienna Liston produced a base hit and Eliza Gunter scored once.
The Wolves (3-2 overall) will host Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia on Friday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m. in a Prep League game before visiting Mayfield Senior in Pasadena on March 14.
