LCHS, Flintridge Prep, St. Francis Resume Play

The La Cañada High School varsity baseball team was shut out at Monrovia, 2-0, in a Rio Hondo League game last Thursday.
Sophomore Carson Kelly, who had a hit and a walk, took the loss after allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over five innings on the mound.
Senior Alex Higa went 2-for-3, junior Justin McCubbin recorded a base hit, sophomore Cash Carroll pitched a perfect inning of relief, and sophomore Leon Chen walked once.
The Spartans (6-8 overall, 3-4 in league) will visit Pasadena for a nonleague game on Friday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m. before resuming league action at South Pasadena on April 10.

The Wolves crushed visiting Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia, 13-3, in a Prep League game last Friday.
Freshman Will Grable, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a walk, pitched a five-inning complete game with seven strikeouts, three earned runs, three walks and one hit. Sophomore Calvin Chen went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run while sophomore Will Koh recorded a double, three RBIs and a run. Freshman Nathan Sanok finished with a hit, two runs, an RBI and a walk while senior captain Graham DesHotel tallied a hit, an RBI and a run. Sophomore Rowan Schaeffer scored three runs and walked twice while senior captain Max Brunngraber registered three RBIs, two walks and a run. Senior captain John Kully walked and scored twice while sophomore Ethan Park walked once.
Flintridge Prep previously returned to action after a 10-day hiatus and routed host Rio Hondo Prep in a league game, 12-1. Brunngraber, who went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, a run and a walk, pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts, three walks and two hits. Sophomore Brian Xu went 2-for-3 with a double, four runs, two RBIs and a walk while Koh recorded a double, a run and a walk. Schaeffer tallied a hit, two walks, an RBI and a run, junior George Hayes and sophomore Matthew Chino each finished with a hit and a run, and Chen produced a hit and an RBI. Kully registered two RBIs and a run, Sanok walked and scored twice, and Grable had an RBI.
The Wolves (9-5 overall, 4-2 in league) will host Pasadena Poly for a league game today at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Alhambra on April 11.

The Golden Knights narrowly lost at Chaminade High in West Hills, 1-0, in a Mission League game last Friday.
Junior Holden Deitch recorded a hit and a stolen base, junior John Calmette, sophomore Jordan Lewallen a hit and sophomore Caleb Thatcher each had a base hit, and sophomore Dane Shepard walked once. Junior Kalani Quiroz took the loss after allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings. Junior Aaron Hernandez pitched two scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts, one hit and one walk.
SFHS lost to visiting Chaminade, 7-5, in a league game last Wednesday as junior Brody Ruyle went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Lewallen recorded a hit, an RBI, a run and a walk, Quiroz tallied a hit, a run, a stolen base and two walks, and Calmette and Shepard each had a hit, a run and a walk. Deitch finished with a hit, a run and a stolen base while Caleb Thatcher produced a base hit. Junior Lucas Favretto allowed one hit with two strikeouts over two innings of relief while senior Xander Douglas and junior Kal-El Holguin each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
St. Francis blanked host Chaminade, 3-0, in a league game last Tuesday as Caleb Thatcher tossed a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts, five hits and one walk. Deitch slugged a solo home run and a walk, senior Lucas Dixon went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Shepard went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Quiroz recorded a double and a run while Calmette and Ruyle each tallied a hit and a stolen base. Lewallen finished with a hit and a walk and senior Liam Thatcher walked once.
SFHS (10-10 overall, 7-8 in league) will host St. Bonaventure High of Ventura for a nonleague game on April 12 before hosting Simi Valley on April 13.
