Spartans Sweep Rio Hondo League Finals

La Cañada High School recently hosted the Rio Hondo League finals at its newly built aquatics center. The Spartan boys’ team won with 437 points and the girls’ team totaled 376 to finish first.
Mia Bugarin won the girls’ 200 free with a 1:53.97 time, Avalon Sanders (1:57.49) placed third and Kamille Marchen (2:15.14) was ninth. Ryan Makouar won the boys’ 200 IM with a 1:52.42 time, Elliott Lee (2:03.84) placed fifth, and Jonathan Pham (2:20.15) and Kamael Marchen (2:23.87) finished eighth and 10th, respectively.
Igor Benderskii won the boys’ 100 free with a 45.99 time, Jacob Boulanger (51.72) placed second, and Sam Baker (52.81) and Max Rosas (54.61) finished third and fourth, respectively. Makouar won the boys’ 100 free with a 48.66 time while Theo Lee (sixth, 53.76), Jeffrey Wang (seventh, 55.48) and Ashwin Fernando (ninth, 58.56) each finished among the top 10. Theo Lee won the boys’ 100 breast with a 1:01.60 time. Elliott Lee (1:03.35) placed third and Wang (1:04.26) finished eighth.
The relay team of Benderskii, Boulanger, Makouar and Pierce O’Grady won the boys’ 200 free with a 1:26.20 time.
The relay team of Bugarin, Sanders, Mia Kronson and Meredith O’Grady won the girls’ 400 free with a 3:38.97 time.
Benderskii was the runner-up in the boys’ 200 with a 1:40.02 time, Pierce O’Grady (1:40.55) finished third, and Troy Seto (1:53.76) and Phillip Cann (2:00.35) placed seventh and 10th, respectively. Kronson was the girls’ 100 fly runner-up with a 1:00.56 time while Ellie Lindenfeld (1:13.33) was seventh. Sanders was the girls’ 500 free runner-up with a 5:11.71 time while Bugarin (5:13.48) and Lilli Perner (5:19.86) finished third and fourth, respectively.
Meredith O’Grady was the girls’ 100 free runner-up with a 53.89 time, Kaley Schmidt (57.12) took fourth, Shereen Emadi (57.49) placed fifth and Kamille Marchen (1:01.50) finished 10th. Pierce O’Grady was the boys’ 500 free runner-up with a 4:37.07 time, Seto (5:09.81) placed seventh, and Tait Landswick (5:34.12) and Kamael Marchen (5:46.13) finished ninth and 10th, respectively.
Meredith O’Grady (2:11.19) was third in the girls’ 200 IM while Natalie Suh (2:29.62) and Lindenfeld (2:41.66) took seventh and 10th, respectively. Kronson (1:02.34) took third in the girls’ 100 back while Perner (1:09.05) and Emma Badescu (1:11.39) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The relay team of Makouar, Pierce O’Grady, Boulanger and Benderskii placed second in the boys’ 400 free with a 3:08.38 time. The relay team of Natalee Yun, Perner, Sanders and Schmidt placed second in the girls’ 200 free with a 1:42.83 time. The relay team of Kronson, Schmidt, Yun and Meredith O’Grady finished third in the girls’ 200 medley with a 1:54.61 time. The relay team of Elliott Lee, Theo Lee, Wang and Rosas placed third in the boys’ 200 medley with a 1:44.37 time.
Boulanger (third, 23.00), Matthew Sheehy (fourth, 24.04) and Rosas (fifth, 24.17) each finished inside the boys’ 50 free while Landswick (27.05) was 14th. Schmidt (25.86) took fourth in the girls’ 50 free, Yun (26.52) placed seventh, Emadi (26.62) finished eighth and Emmy Lin (27.33) was 10th.
Lin (1:12.31) and Yun (1:13.28) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the girls’ 100 breast while Suh (1:17.82) was ninth. Cann (fifth, 1:01.95), Baker (sixth, 1:02.55), Sheehy (seventh, 1:03.11) and Fernando (eighth, 1:03.24) each finished inside the top 10 in the boys’ 100 back.

The Wolves recently competed in the Prep League finals at Pasadena Poly. The boys’ and the girls’ teams each finished second with 287 and 292 points, respectively.
Natalie Walklett won the girls’ 200-yards freestyle with a 1:54.25 mark, Charlotte Fishman (1:58.58) placed third and Isabella Bonaccorso (2:10.65) was sixth. Addie Gish won the girls’ 200 IM with a 2:03.62 time, Megan Lee took third with a 2:11.58 mark and Peyton Hemann was 11th with a 2:56.19 time. Fishman won the girls’ 100 fly with a 59.37 mark while Dylan Docter (1:02.60) was fourth.
Gish won the girls’ 500 free with a 4:53.46 mark while Lee (5:18.41) and Bonaccorso (5:54.59) finished third and sixth, respectively. Sarah Iturbe won the girls’ 100 back with a 1:00.48 time, Docter (1:01.59) was second, and Natalie McMullin (1:13.36) and Hailey Neufer (1:16.26) placed eighth and 10th, respectively. Walklett (1:06.30) won the girls’ 100 breast with a 1:06.30 time while Hemann (1:26.12) was 12th.
The relay team of Gish, Iturbe, Lee and Walklett won the girls’ 400 free with a 3:35.78 mark. The relay team of Gish, Fishman, Lee and Walklett won the girls’ 200 free with a 1:39.32 time.
Athan Boutakidis won the boys’ 50 free with a 20.41 time, Aidan Grimm placed fifth with a 23.58 mark, and Aram Kedeshian (25.47) and Carter Morrell (26.06) were eighth and ninth, respectively. Athan Boutakidis won the boys’ 100 free with a 45.94 time, Grimm was sixth with a 51.63 time, and Kedeshian (57.03) and Nick Boutakidis (1:00.23) were eighth and 10th, respectively. Isaac Jung was the boys’ 500 free runner-up with a 5:09.97 time, Ridley Tolleson (5:26.29) was third, and Elliott Oakes (5:35.03) and Morrell (5:41.29) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The relay team of Grimm, Jung, Kai Timbadia and Athan Boutakidis finished second in the boys’ 400 free with a 3:19.57. The relay team of Grimm, Timbadia, Tolleson and Athan Boutakidis was the runner-up in the boys’ 200 free with a 1:29.73 time. The relay team of Iturbe, Bonaccorso, Fishman and Docter was the girls’ 200 medley runner-up with a 1:57.91 time. The relay team of Nick Boutakidis, Oakes, Carter Sakai and Tolleson finished third in the boys’ 200 medley with a 1:58.21 mark.
Iturbe was the girls’ 100 free runner-up with a 54.53 mark while Dahlia Kamine (1:06.29) was 12th. Oakes (1:13.72) placed third in the boys’ 100 breast while Corbin Paxton (1:28.65) was eighth. Jung placed third in the boys’ 200 free with a 1:51.10 time while Tolleson (fifth, 1:57.71) and Timbadia (sixth, 1:58.54) finished among the top 10. Timbadia placed fourth in the boys’ 100 back with a 1:01.85 time while Nick Boutakidis (1:14.22) finished seventh.
Sakai (1:06.40) and David Yu (1:13.54) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the boys’ 100 fly. Sakai (eighth, 2:27.40), Yu (ninth, 2:33.68) and Paxton (10th, 2:42.24) each placed inside the top 10 in the boys’ 200 IM.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs recently competed in the Mission League finals at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center and finished fourth with 104 points.
Guinevere Andrews (1:04.22) placed fourth in the girls’ 100 back while Kaitlyn Beltz (1:07.00) took 10th. Andrews (26.51) placed fifth in the girls’ 50 free while Beltz (26.94) and Reese Artura (27.02) took seventh and eighth, respectively.
Marisol Cowles finished ninth in the girls’ 200 free with a 2:09.48 time while also placing 10th in the 100 free with a 1:02.06 time. Grace Anich (1:20.16) and Artura (1:22.88) finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 breast.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights recently competed in the Mission League finals at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Aquatics Center and finished fourth with 37 total points.
Nathan Kim won the boys’ 100 fly with a 48.41 time while Owen Bollert (57.30) was 10th. Kim also won the boys’ 100 back with a 48.63 time. Jason Alietti finished eighth in the boys’ 100 breast with a 1:03.93 time while also placing 10th in the 50 free with a 22.51 time. Jozef Gutierrez (5:38.02) took sixth in the boys’ 500 free.
