LCHS, FSHA Lose; Flintridge Prep Wins in Playoffs

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team was shut out at Aliso Niguel High in Aliso Viejo, 7-0, in a CIF-Southern Section Division III first-round game last Thursday.
Senior Kyra Davis went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, junior Ashley Lovejoy went 2-for-3, sophomore Grace Rocco added a base hit and junior Elle Leckrone registered six strikeouts over six innings in the circle.
The Spartans previously won a CIF wildcard game over visiting Beckman High of Irvine, 10-3. Leckrone fell a triple short of the cycle after finishing 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, three runs scored and a steal. She also picked up a save after tossing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, one hit and no walks.
Sophomore Bentley Labrecque, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and no walks with four strikeouts over four innings in the circle. Lovejoy went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and a run while Rocco went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Davis went 3-for-4 with two runs and a steal while junior Mia Salardino went 2-for-3 with a walk. Freshman Laila Kazazian had a hit and an RBI while senior Riley Breckheimer scored once.
LCHS finished as the Rio Hondo League runner-up with a 9-3 record (16-10 overall).

The Tologs lost to visiting Oxnard, 3-1, in their CIF-Southern Section Division IV first-round game last Thursday.
Junior Megan Milton went 2-for-3 with a double, senior Meghan Garrity went 2-for-4, and junior Meaghan Coyle allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts in a complete-game effort. Senior captain Charlotte Taylor, senior Ellie McCarthy, senior Cameron Bender and sophomore Ava Nawrocki each had a base hit while junior Abigail Blea scored once.
FSHA finished the season as undefeated Angelus League champions with an 8-0 record (17-4 overall).

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Preps Mary Sinclair gave the Wolves a late lead with a bases clearing double against visiting Hueneme High in a CIF SS Division VII playoff game last week

The Wolves nabbed a 9-7 victory over visiting Hueneme High of Oxnard in a CIF-Southern Section Division VII first-round game last Thursday.
Flintridge Prep entered the sixth trailing by a run before Mary Sinclair’s bases-clearing double gave the home team an 8-6 advantage. She had a terrific afternoon at the plate with a home run in the first and a double in the fifth to finish 3-for-5 with a game-high five RBIs and a pair of runs.
Elise Fong, who had a hit, an RBI and a steal, pitched a complete game with two strikeouts and no walks. Sienna Liston went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Emma Carmack tallied a hit, an RBI and a run while Madison Lin produced a hit, an RBI and a walk. Asta Uziel and Eliza Gunter each recorded a hit and a run while Sarah Bougdanos walked twice, stole two bases and scored a pair of runs.
The Wolves (12-7 overall) recently visited Los Amigos for a CIF second-round matchup; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, Flintridge Prep would advance to the quarterfinals today against either Estancia High of Costa Mesa (11-8) or Baldwin Park (17-10).
