LCPC Presents Concert Features Cole Porter Tunes

Birds do it, bees do it. Even educated fleas do it. Let’s do it, let’s fall in love. — Cole Porter

Fall in love all over again with some of the most clever, funny and romantic songs ever written in the 20th century, by American composer and songwriter Cole Porter.

The LCPC Chancel Choir and Orchestra will present favorite Porter songs in the original orchestrations, with a 50-voice chorus, full 55-piece orchestra and featured soloists in a concert “Anything Goes – A Cole Porter Celebration” on Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. in the LCPC church sanctuary. The song favorites are so familiar everyone will want to sing along.
Porter’s witty, sophisticated lyrics and subtle melodies made him one of the most notable figures in popular music of his day. His music endures beautifully with many of his songs recognized in The Great American Songbook. The concert includes more than 30 Porter classics including: “Night and Day,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” “Another Opening, Another Show,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Begin the Beguine,” and many, many more.

Prior to the concert, LCPC’s Director of Music and Worship Arts Jack Lantz will present a pre-concert lecture at 1:30 p.m. discussing Porter’s glamorous lifestyle and inspiration for his music. No charge for admission. The concert will also be livestreamed via LCPC’s website, Facebook and YouTube.

La Cañada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd. For those who cannot attend in-person, the concert and pre-concert lecture will be livestreamed. Use the following link to watch: live.lacanadapc.org or watch on the lacanadapc page in YouTube or Facebook.
