Friends of Library Gears Up for School Year

After extensive refurbishing over the last year, the La Cañada Flintridge Public Library is once again open five days per week from Tuesday through Saturday. With school starting in mid-August, the Friends of the Library nonprofit organization is gearing up for a new year on behalf of the community library.
Did you know the library has ongoing lobby sales during all open business hours? There is even a special section with carts where books are $5 a bag. A vast selection of used books is always available with new books appearing as soon as shelves permit, including core literature, novels, children’s books, cookbooks and nonfiction. All proceeds from book sales go back to the library to fund programs and books at the library for all ages.
Are you in need of a good place to send used books once you are finished with them? Books may be dropped off by the back doors and can be left anytime during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday.
If you love books and want to get involved in your community in a low-key way, Friends of the Library always welcome new members to the group. Volunteers can determine a time that fits into their schedule. The group will be having a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at the library. For more information, email annebrowne7@gmail.com with your phone number or questions.
The La Cañada Flintridge Library is overseen by a team headed by manager Mark Totten, lead reference librarian Elaine Braddock and children’s librarian Sarah LoVerme. The Friends of the Library officers are president Anne Browne, treasurer Martha Burns and secretary Marian Macho, and include a dedicated team of book sorters, shelf stockers and other volunteers making a difference in the community.
