The La Cañada High School varsity opened the regular season with a home match against Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy; the nonleague match finished after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
The Spartans will host Mark Keppel High of Alhambra in a nonleague match on Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting South Pasadena for their Rio Hondo League opener on Sept. 21.
FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs battled visiting Polytechnic of Pasadena, but fell in games 9-9, (75-70) in a nonleague match.
No. 1 singles player Madison Wuu (7-5, 6-1), the No. 1 doubles team of Grace Garrity and Mia Wertheimer (6-3, 6-2) and the No. 2 duo of Gabriella Newman and Emma Oakland (6-3, 6-0) each won a pair of sets. Meanwhile, No. 2 Ashley Hurjak (6-1), No. 2 Iris Beijar (6-1), and the No. 3 tandem of Lauren Kilpatrick and Isabelle Gavina (6-3) each added a set victory.
FSHA previously lost its season opener against Burbank 15-3. The No. 1 team of Wertheimer and Garrity won a pair of sets, 7-6, 6-1, and the No. 2 duo of Oakland and Kilpatrick added a 6-0 victory.
The Tologs (0-2 overall) will visit Flintridge Prep for a nonleague match on Friday at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Mayfield Senior on Monday.
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves will host Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in a nonleague match on Friday at 3:15 p.m. before opening Prep League action against visiting Mayfield Senior on Sept. 21.
