Zubchevich Leads LCHS to League-Opening Win

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ volleyball team swept host Monrovia, 25-13, 25-14, 25-18, in its Rio Hondo League opener on Sept. 12.
Junior Ashby Zubchevich contributed 13 kills, eight aces, seven digs and one block, senior Tatum Purdy racked up 25 assists, six digs and three aces, and senior Chloe Nussbaum finished with 10 digs, five kills, two assists and one ace. Sophomore Vani Tatoulian collected nine kills and one block, while junior Danica Eggleston produced nine assists, two aces and two digs. Senior Emma Reed had six kills, freshman Luella Lewis tallied five kills and one block, and sophomore Caitlin Yee recorded four aces, three digs and one assist. Senior Haley Clark notched five digs and one kill, while junior Irelyn Fung registered one kill and one dig. Senior Maya Dingle had three digs while freshman Maya Purdy had two digs.
The Spartans (7-5 overall, 1-0 in league) traveled to South Pasadena for a crucial league contest on Sept. 20; the match ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. LCHS will compete in the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, between Sept. 22 and 23 before resuming league play against visiting San Marino on Sept. 26.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves have been away from the court since being swept by Westridge School of Pasadena in a Prep League match on Sept. 8.
Flintridge Prep (9-4 overall, 3-3 in league) will visit Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia for a league match on Sept. 19 at 4:45 p.m. before hosting Mayfield Senior of Pasadena on Sept. 21.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs have also not seen action since defeating Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in four games in an Angelus League match on Sept. 11.
FSHA (11-6 overall, 2-0 in league) will compete in the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sept. 22 and 23 before resuming league play against Louisville High of Woodland Hills on Sept. 26.
