Doubles Sweep Helps La Cañada Fend Off Mark Keppel

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ tennis team posted a 12-6 victory over visiting Mark Keppel High of Alhambra in a nonleague matchup on Sept. 15.
In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Christina Seibert and Pauline Hess won in straight sets with scores of 7-6 (11-9), 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 2 pairing of Lauren Kim and Kaylee Thornburgh also swept their matches, posting scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0. The No. 3 duo of Kate Austin and Claire Lin also swept with scores of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-0.
In singles play, No. 1 Lillian Chamras, No. 2 Maya Lindenfeld and No. 3 Jessica Simonian each contributed a set win at 6-0.
The undefeated Spartans (3-0 overall) will open Rio Hondo League play hosting South Pasadena on Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting rival and perennial powerhouse San Marino on Sept. 26.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs lost to visiting Mayfield Senior 14-4 in a nonleague matchup on Sept. 11.
In singles action, No. 1 Madison Wuu claimed two sets with scores of 6-1 and 7-6. No. 2 Ashley Hurjak secured a set win at 6-3. In doubles play, the No. 3 team of Grace Garrity and Gabriella Newman won a set with a score of 6-2.
FSHA (0-5 overall) will visit Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City for a Mission League match on Sept. 26 before hosting Chaminade High of West Hills on Sept. 28.


FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves have not played a match since defeating Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in a nonleague matchup on Sept. 8
Flintridge Prep (3-0 overall) will host Mayfield Senior of Pasadena for a Prep League match on Sept. 21 at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Mark Keppel High of Alhambra on Sept. 22.
