The La Cañada High School varsity football team delivered a commanding performance in its Rio Hondo League opener, shutting out host Pasadena Polytechnic 35-0 on Sept. 29.
Senior quarterback Macky Plocher completed six passes for 138 yards with a pair of touchdowns, and rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on four carries for the Spartans (3-3 overall, 1-0 in league). Senior Lorenz Bayug rushed for 98 yards on 10 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Senior Luke Raulli had two receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown, while senior Hayden Dancsecs made a 31-yard touchdown catch.
Junior Sohan Garg had nine carries for 76 yards, senior Alan Razo had two receptions for 44 yards and senior Tyler Bond made 12-yard catch. Senior Quest Swan went 3-for-3 in PAT attempts, while senior Elliot Rae and junior Gayane Khachatourian each scored an extra point.
Senior Kei Hartzberg amassed 10 tackles and a sack, while junior River Wokosin racked up eight tackles and a sack. Junior Syem Bangash recorded five tackles and a 14-yard interception, while senior Paulos Cucullu and senior Anthon Cannon each tallied five tackles. Junior Cole Parisi produced four tackles and an interception, while junior Jason Xaypraseuth and sophomore Duke Mora each chipped in four tackles. Senior Matthew Fan and junior Warner Ibsen each contributed three tackles, while junior Morgan Strauss registered two tackles. Senior Carl Shew finished with one tackle and a sack, while senior Cayden Klein, senior Alex Quan, senior Brandon Goldsby, junior Scott Carey, junior Spencer Turner, sophomore Jakob Kim, sophomore Avery Zoltzman and sophomore Jackson Radabaugh each had one tackle.
The Spartans will visit San Marino for a league game on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. before hosting Monrovia on Oct. 13.
