La Cañada, Flintridge Prep Eye Playoff Matchups

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ tennis team picked up a 13-5 Rio Hondo League victory at Temple City on Oct. 23.
No. 1 Lillian Chamras swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, while No. 2 Maya Lindenfeld also swept with scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-0. No. 3 Katie Kelly won a pair of sets with identical 6-2 scores.
The No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Simonian and Kaylee Thornburgh swept their matches with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0. The No. 1 duo of Christina Seibert and Lauren Kim won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
The Spartans swept host Blair High in Pasadena 18-0 in a league match on Oct. 19.
The No. 1 doubles team of Pauline Hess and Seibert, the No. 2 tandem of Maddison Hunt and Elena Rose Galen, and the No. 3 duo of Kate Austin and Quinn Parisi swept their sides without dropping a game, notching nine total 6-0 victories.
In singles play, No. 2 Simonian swept with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0. No. 1 Chamras won a pair of sets with identical 6-0 scores before alternating with Anna Forster, who contributed a 6-1 victory. No. 3 Lindenfeld won two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-0 before alternating with Kelly, who added a 6-3 victory.
The Spartans cruised to an easy 17-1 league victory over visiting Monrovia on Oct. 17.
The No. 2 doubles team of Hess and Parisi dominated with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, while the No. 3 tandem of Mila Tadevosyan and Austin also swept with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1. The No. 1 duo of Kim and Rose Galen won two sets with identical 6-0 scores. Kim later rotated with Simonian, and the newly formed pair with Rose Galen added a 6-0 victory.
No. 1 Chamras won two sets with identical 6-0 scores before alternating with Thornburgh, who added a 6-1 victory. No. 2 Seibert won a pair of sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-0 before alternating with Hunt, who added a 6-1 victory. No. 3 Lindenfeld also contributed a 6-4 victory before alternating with Forster, who added a 6-1 set win.
La Cañada (12-2 overall, 8-2 in league) will have individuals finish competing in the league tournament on Oct. 26. The CIF Southern Section team playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

Flintridge Preps No 1 doubles team featuring Kaitlyn Lavichant swept their matches to help the Wolves beat Providence High of Burbank in a Prep League match on Oct 23

The Wolves picked up a convincing 17-1 Prep League victory over visiting Providence High of Burbank on Oct. 23.
No. 1 Kat Zirn swept with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, No. 2 Emily Hsiao swept with scores of 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, and No. 3 Anika Anant swept with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Sienna Beltz and Kaitlyn Lavichant swept with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 2 duo of Vanessa Hsu and Nicole Lee won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0 before alternating with Kate Snaer and Minda Lai, who contributed a 6-1 victory. The No. 3 pairing of Kara Choy and Francesca Cecil won a pair of sets with identical 6-0 scores.
Flintridge Prep lost at Palos Verdes Chadwick in games, 9-9 (76-66), in a league matchup on Oct. 19.
The No. 1 doubles team of Beltz and Lavichant swept with scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-2. The No. 3 pairing of Cecil and Choy won a pair of sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-2, while the No. 2 duo of Hsu and Nicole Lee won a set, 6-4.
In the singles category, No. 1 Zirn won two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-0, while No. 3 Hsiao contributed with a 6-2 victory.
The Wolves posted a 12-6 league victory over visiting Pasadena Polytechnic on Oct. 17.
No. 1 Zirn swept with scores of 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0. No. 2 Hsiao won a pair of sets with identical 6-0 scores. No. 3 won a set, 6-0, before alternating with Vy Pham, who added a 6-0 victory.
In the doubles category, the No. 2 team of Kayla Lee and Choy won two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-0. The No. 3 pairing of Hsu and Nicole Lee also won two sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 1 duo of Lavichant and Beltz added a 6-2 victory.
Flintridge Prep (12-3, 8-2) sent individuals to compete in the Prep League tournament on Oct. 25; the matches ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section team playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

The Tologs lost at Chaminade High in West Hills 13-5 in their regular season finale on Oct. 17. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
FSHA finished last in league with an 0-8 record (0-13 overall).
