LCHS Fall to Temple City, San Marino in League Battles

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team lost at Temple City 19-11 in a Rio Hondo League game on Oct. 19.
Junior Tait Landswick recorded three goals and six steals, senior lan Wipfli finished with three goals and one steal, and junior Alexander Abramian scored three goals. Sophomore Max Hong chipped in two goals and two steals, while junior Beckett Chung registered three saves and two steals.
The Spartans lost to visiting San Marino 18-10 in a league game on Oct. 17.
Chung tallied eight saves, Landswick racked up five goals and Wipfli scored four goals. Meanwhile, senior Jacob Goldsworthy added one goal.
LCHS (8-14 overall, 1-5 in league) visited South Pasadena for its regular season finale on Oct. 25; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.

The Golden Knights finished the regular season on a high note after going 3-1 at the Ayala Tournament on Oct. 20 and 21.
St. Francis posted victories over Cabrillo High of Long Beach, 12-6; Ayala High of Chino Hills, 19-5; and Tustin, 13-6. The Golden Knights’ only blemish was a narrow 12-11 loss against Don Lugo High of Chino in their tournament opener.
Over the Golden Knights’ last five games, junior Nicholas Karamian racked up 38 goals, junior Cooper Klosterman tallied 31 goals and junior goalie Donovan Esquivel recorded 42 saves. SFHS finished fifth in the Mission League with a 0-4 record (7-15 overall).

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves recently split a pair of Prep League games, defeating La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena, 22-11, but losing to Pasadena Polytechnic, 14-7. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep (12-12 overall, 5-2 in league) concluded the regular season against Palos Verdes Chadwick on Oct. 24; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.
