Sheriff’s Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Sugar Loaf Drive between Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 8 a.m. The victim told the deputy he received a call from his project manager who told him that someone had broken into the locked detached garage of the residence, where the manager said a suspect had stolen an HVAC air condenser unit. The victim also informed the deputy that there were no video surveillance cameras at the residence and that he saw pry marks on the side door of the garage. The residence was undergoing renovations. The deputy shortly contacted another individual and said that he was at the residence at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 and locked the side door to the garage prior to leaving the residence. He said that the HVAC air condenser was last seen in the middle of the garage, where it was left.

A blue mountain bicycle was reported stolen in the 800 block of La Porte Drive on Oct. 29 at 3:55 p.m. The victim told the deputy that her neighbor alerted her to the alleged theft. While cleaning his backyard, the neighbor said he witnesses the rear tire of the bicycle being taken over the victim’s fence, as well as a shadow walking away. When the victim checked her garage, she confirmed the bike was missing. The victim described the bike to the deputy taking the report, but she did not know the make, model or serial number. The garage, which was left unlocked, is not attached to the house. When asked about cameras on the property, the victim said she had some, but they did not record. The deputy canvassed the area for additional surveillance cameras, but did not find any.

A residential burglary was reported in the 4800 block of Fairlawn Drive on Oct. 26 between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The victim left his home around 8 a.m. and returned to his residence at 7:30 p.m. and noticed that his front door latch was in the locked position even though he did not lock the latch before leaving. He entered his residence through a rear sliding door and saw that his bedroom had been ransacked. The son, who returned home first, said his room was also ransacked. The last family member at the residence prior to the incident was the victim’s other son who left at 5 p.m. The deputy conducted a walkthrough and observed an opening that was created in the backyard via the removal of a wooden fence and various bricks holding. They also found that the screen was removed from the rear sliding door, which is where the suspect might have entered and exited. Items missing from the property include a Louis Vuitton purse, a black Chanel purse, a burgundy Chanel purse, jewelry, Pokémon cards and money.

An attempted grand theft incident was reported in the 300 block of Baptiste Way between Oct. 28 at 11 p.m. and Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m. On Oct. 28, the victim parked her gray Hyundai Elantra on the corner of Crown Avenue and Baptiste Way. The next day, her husband approached the vehicle and noticed the front passenger window had been shattered. He notified his wife and called the Sheriff’s station to report it. The deputy, upon inspecting the vehicle, saw that the bottom cover underneath the steering wheel had been damaged, exposing some electrical wiring from the steering wheel. The victim believed that the suspect was trying to steal her car, since her DMV vehicle registration was stolen. A Bic lighter was also found on the passenger seat, which was not the victim’s, and the deputy took it for evidence. No camera footage capturing the incident was found by deputies.

A prowling incident was reported in the 500 block of Princess Anne Road on Oct. 26 at 6:43 p.m. The victim said that while monitoring his video surveillance cameras on Oct. 26, he observed two adults jump over the secured south gate of his residence. He immediately turned on the lights to his residence and began to scream but did not see the suspects in person. He called the Sheriff’s station to report the incident. After reviewing the footage, he observed three men jump back over the same gate. The deputy also noted that a residential burglary occurred near the incident on the same day.

A Lululemon bag was stolen in the 900 block of Town Center Drive on Oct. 26 between 10:20 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. While meeting with a few friends at a restaurant, the victim placed her bag on the left side of her body and her friends did the same with their bags, putting them next to hers. The victim said she left the table to get some food during her time at the restaurant and when she got up to leave, she noticed that her bag was missing. She did not see who took the bag, which held a makeup bag, her wallet, driver’s license, three credit cards and money. The deputy contacted the store’s general manager to review video footage.
