Sheriff’s Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 4300 block of Commonwealth Avenue on Nov. 2 between 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The victim told the deputy that an unknown suspect broke into his residence from the rear door and ransacked the house. The rear door was locked prior to the incident, and the victim realized that his residence had been burglarized when he noticed numerous doors and cabinets left open inside his house when he returned home but he was unsure if any items were stolen. He also believes that the suspect exited through the side door, which was originally closed and locked, but was left open when he arrived home. He did not have a video surveillance camera or alarm system in the house.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 4600 block of Indiana Avenue between Nov. 2 at 11 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 9:30 a.m. The victim said he parked and locked his 2022 Toyota RAV 3 in front of his house on the street and in the same place he always parks and did not notice any damage at the time. The next day he left the house for work and noticed his vehicle trunk window was completely smashed and several items were taken, which included a backpack, sweatshirt, a U.S. passport, two credit cards, his driver’s license, a blank check bundle, a concealed weapon license, work-related documents and an Apple Air Tag. The items missing had been inside the trunk and backseat.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 5300 block of Linda Vista Drive between Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. The victim parked and locked her vehicle, and the next day, she noticed the left rear driver side passenger window was shattered. She noticed the only item missing from the trunk was a camping chair. The doors were also still locked when she found the damaged window. The deputy found two surveillance cameras pointing toward the victim’s vehicle and contacted the security manager of the property and left a voicemail.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 4200 block of Beulah Drive on Nov. 3 between 1:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The victim parked and locked his 2017 Lexus RX350 in front of his house, and no damage to the vehicle was reported at the time. Later, the victim and his family members came outside of the house and noticed that the vehicle’s trunk window was completely smashed, and softball gear in the vehicle was taken. The deputy was unable to inspect the vehicle because it had already been taken to the dealership for repairs. The victim confirmed that there were no credit cards or cash inside his vehicle.

A shoplifting incident was reported in the 600 block of Foothill Boulevard on Nov. 1 at 10:10 a.m. The deputy contacted the loss prevention officer and said that on Nov. 4 he was in the loss prevention office reviewing the CCTV surveillance cameras of a reported theft on Nov. 1. He observed a man wearing a red and white flannel button-up shirt, blue jeans and brown boots walk into the store using a walker through the south main entrance. The suspect walked to the coat rack on the second floor from the south entrance and started to randomly grab coats from the rack and place them in a storage compartment of the walker and black bag he was carrying on his back. Then he started to walk toward the north entrance, past the manned and opened cash registers, store employees and through the alarm sensor doors. He exited the location without attempting to pay for the coats in an unknown direction. An individual called the Sheriff’s station to report the incident and said that the suspect stole seven coats.

A shoplifting incident was reported in the 600 block of Foothill Boulevard on Nov. 3 at 2:16 p.m. On Nov. 4 the loss prevention officer was reviewing the CCTV surveillance cameras of a reported theft on Nov. 3. He observed two males walk into a store from the north entrance. The first male, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black boots walked into the store using a walker and the second male was seen wearing a backpack, brown baseball cap, gray jacket, blue pants and black shoes. The suspects walked toward the coat rack on the second floor and started to randomly grab coats from the rack and place them in a storage compartment of the walker and a backpack. The suspects then started to walk toward the north entrance. Both suspects walked past the open cash registers, store employees and through the alarm sensor doors. They did not attempt to pay for the coats. The suspects stole six coats and a store employee said that he recognized one of the suspects from a theft that occurred on Nov. 1.

A shoplifting incident was reported in the 900 block of Foothill Boulevard on Nov. 2 at 2:55 p.m. A Sprouts manager told the deputy that the meat manager said that the lamb section appeared to have sold more lamb than usual. The store manager reviewed the video surveillance footage of the section, and saw a male wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans with thinning hair enter the location through the main entrance. He walked to the lamb section and placed approximately 12 packages in his shopping cart. He later walked to the frozen scallops section and added approximately 12 packages to his shopping cart. He was seen walking out of the main entrance without paying for the merchandise.
