The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ tennis team lost at Yorba Linda 10-8 in its CIF Southern Section Division I opener on Nov. 1.
The No. 2 doubles team of Christina Seibert and Pauline Hess swept with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, while the No. 3 tandem of Lauren Kim and Kaylee Thornburgh also swept with scores of 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) and 6-4. The No. 1 duo of Claire Lin and Kate Austin won a set, 6-1, while No. 3 Lillian Chamras added a 6-0 victory.
The Spartans finished as the Rio Hondo League runner-up with an 8-2 record (12-3 overall).

The Wolves lost to visiting Dos Pueblos High of Goleta 10-8 in their CIF Southern Section Division II opener on Nov. 1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kaitlyn Lavichant and Sienna Beltz swept with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-4, while the No. 3 tandem of Francesca Cecil and Kara Choy won a pair of sets with 6-3 and 6-2 scores. The No. 2 duo of Vanessa Hsu and Nicole Lee won a set, 7-6 (7-5), while No. 2 Emily Hsiao (6-3) and No. 3 Kat Zirn (6-1) each won a set.
Flintridge Prep finished the campaign as the Prep League runner-up with an 8-2 record (12-4 overall).
